Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-26
Hypothetically is built for creative, educational and entertaining videos. This policy lists what you may not do with the Service. It is part of our Terms of Service and applies to your Inputs, to the videos you generate and to how you use them.
Content you may not create
- Child safety. Any content that sexualizes, exploits or endangers minors. We report this content to the competent authorities, including the US National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
- Real people. Videos that impersonate a real person, put words in a real person's mouth, or depict a real, identifiable person in a sexual, humiliating or defamatory way without their consent. This includes voice imitation of real people.
- Sexual content. Pornographic or sexually explicit material.
- Deception about real events. Content presented as real news or real footage when it is fabricated, including election and voting misinformation, fake emergency alerts and fake statements by public authorities. Clearly hypothetical scenarios ("what if…") are fine.
- Hate and harassment. Content that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or similar characteristics, or that harasses, threatens or bullies anyone.
- Violence and dangerous acts. Content that promotes terrorism or violent extremism, glorifies real violent attacks, or gives instructions for weapons, explosives or self-harm.
- Fraud and harmful advice. Scams, fake reviews, deceptive financial or "get rich quick" promises, and medical or health claims meant to replace professional care.
- Illegal content. Anything that is illegal where you live or where it will be published, or that promotes illegal goods or services.
- Intellectual property. Content that infringes copyrights, trademarks or other rights, including uploading material you do not have the right to use.

How we enforce this policy
We use automated checks and human review to find content that breaks this policy. Depending on how serious the issue is, we may refuse a request, remove a video, limit features, suspend or close the account, and report illegal content to the authorities. Serious violations, such as child sexual abuse material, lead to immediate account closure without refund.
